Explore Photography Event

Updated: Friday at 9:35 p.m.

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to our time together this Saturday

Here are some things I’d like you to know. Please let me know if you have any questions.

We will meet at the main branch of the Sumter County Library in downtown Sumter, located at 111 N Harvin St, Sumter, SC 29150. We will meet in the Main Meeting Room (where they hold the Friends of the Library book sale each year) Enter the main entrance and turn to the right, walk through the Kids section and it is in the back right corner.

The library opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday. You can mingle and chat with those attending, grab a donut and then we’ll proceed with the schedule.

Sketch of our time together …

10:00 Mingle
10:05 Welcome + Overview
10:07 Introduction + Presentation
11:00 Leave for Walkabout (group photoshoot) along Main Street
12:15 Lunch is ready
12:30 Send files and mingle
12:45 Slideshow + Critique Sessions (if we have time)
1:40 Clean Up
1:45* Move to the parking lot for more conversation

*RAIN PLAN* You might want to bring a raincoat or umbrella. I’m not sure about the weather yet, but we’ll devise a game plan based on what’s happening that morning at the time of the Walkabout.

We will offer a boxed lunch from Brubaker’s Café & Bakery.

The cost is $10 each.

You can choose sandwiches: Ham, Turkey, or Chicken Salad. They also offer a Veggie Wrap. Each meal will include a sandwich, chips, and a cookie.

You need to text me to let me know what sandwich by Tuesday at 9 p.m. You’ll pay me (Chris). Cash, check, Venmo or CashApp is fine.

~ Your camera
~ Questions
~ Computer or Tablet (if you’d like) and powercord.
~ Something to drink (I’ll have bottles of water)
~ Wear comfortable shoes
~ A jacket if you get cold; the other parts of the library are pretty warm. I’ve never been in this room for long periods.

Each person will most likely be able to share their top 10-12 images from our Walkabout downtown. You’ll need a way to get the images off of your camera and to me. Most cameras have a WiFi option these days that you can download them directly to your phone/tablet. You can then email me , AirDrop or Text them to me.

If you have an image or a 2-3, whatever we have time for, I’ll be glad to display the image and talk through what I see (what you did well, where I think you might improve, etc.) This is a great way to learn and grow.

If you have any other questions, please text or call me.
